“When I was 17, at my high school’s Senior Awards Night, I watched my friends walk away with 5, 6, 7 awards. I wasn't a ‘star student‘ academically, but with so many extracurricular activities & leadership roles, I kept sitting there, waiting -- expecting -- to receive a bunch of accolades.
Yet, in the end, I was the only person who walked away with... One.
This became the breaking point for me and my reliance on external validation. I felt completely devastated and my mental health hit a frightening, all-time low. Up until then, I spent most of my adolescence seeking recognition and approval from everybody around me. But that night, I realized that I had not only thrived on external validation; I relied on it—for my own sense of self.
I began to ask the question, ‘What happens when other people AREN'T validating us? What do we, women and girls, do then?’
I am Chava Tova Thum and I created exactly what (you and) I needed at age 17:
Masterfully facilitated training on internal validation and confident communication -- just for us, women and girls. Private and group classes, professional development days, online and in person:
The Confidence Class is your reliable knowledge base for all-things-confidence.
6 years in -- and 12 years since my one award -- I know that confidence is a vital and teachable skill. I know that real confidence drastically improves how women & girls speak and think about themselves (and others).
Because confidence
is an inside job.”
Chava Tova gave this speech as a 21 year-old senior in university.
This is where she started her confidence work.
Barnard College of Columbia University, Cicero Speech Contest Winner.
Chava Tova was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, and now lives in Philadelphia. She is a proud alumna of Barnard, the women's college of Columbia University, and has training certificates in restorative communication & conflict resolution.
While at Barnard, Chava Tova honed her talent for public speaking; at age 21, in 2013, she won the Cicero Speech Contest, delivering a self-written address on positive self-talk and body image. (You can watch the original recording above.)
The content and delivery of this speech ultimately laid the groundwork for:
THE C O N F I D E N C E CLASS (TCC).
Chava Tova started off as a yoga teacher, and founded TCC after she moved to Hawaii in 2015. Over the following 2.5 years, hundreds of classes that she developed for women and girls -- from all over the world -- reaffirmed one idea:
Confidence is the one trait & skill that affects all others.
Growing up as a self-hating girl and teenager, Chava Tova understands the impact of confidence, and believes that it is a vital and teachable life skill for women and girls.
A high energy people-person who can build rapport with and relate to anyone, Chava Tova is an experienced leader; caring mentor, and trusted source of encouragement and knowledge.
Additionally, she is a trained SafeTALK Suicide Alertness Safety Connector -- able to identify when someone is at risk of suicide and connect them to appropriate mental health support.
Good stuff. Book your class today!
