THE C O N F I D E N C E CLASS Because confidence is an inside job.
“When I was 17, at my high school’s Senior Awards Night, I watched my friends walk away with 5, 6, 7 awards. I hadn’t been a ‘star student‘ academically, but with many extracurricular activities & leadership positions, I sat there expecting to receive many accolades.
Yet, I walked away with... one.
I felt devastated and, from this event and others like it, my self-worth plummeted. I spent much of my young life constantly seeking recognition from others. I realized that I didn’t only thrive on that external validation; I RELIED on it—for my own self-worth.
I began to ask the question, ‘What happens when other people AREN'T validating us? What do we, women and girls, do then?’
I am Amanda Thum, and I created the class that I needed when I was 17: I teach confidence and confident communication to women and girls. Private and group classes, professional development days, online and in-person: I do it all.
I believe that confidence is a teachable skill that can change the way women and girls speak and think about themselves, and others.
Because confidence is an inside job.”
Amanda gave this speech as a 21 year-old senior in university.
This is where she started her confidence work.
Barnard College of Columbia University, Cicero Speech Contest Winner.

While at Barnard, Amanda developed her love and talent for public speaking; in 2013, at age 21, she won the Cicero Speech Contest, delivering a self-written address on... positive self-talk and body image! The content and delivery of this speech ultimately laid the groundwork for
THE C O N F I D E N C E CLASS (or TCC for short).
Amanda is a 200-hour certified yoga teacher, and founded TCC after she moved to Hawaii in 2015. Over the next 2.5 years--teaching hundreds of classes to women and girls from all over the world--Amanda determined that the yoga practice's many tools & modalities were a strong foundation for a confident relationship with oneself.
Having grown up as a self-hating girl and young adult herself, she knows firsthand that confidence is a vital and teachable life skill, which can positively affect every facet of women's and girl's lives.
A high energy people-person who can relate to just about anyone, Amanda is a skilled teacher of women and children; nonjudgmental "encourager" to each of her students; and experienced facilitator of both private and group learning.
